I wonder which critics you are referring to, I read
some reviews that appeared in Dutch and Belgian
magazines, and without exception they are very
enthusiastic. The only "criticism" that I read was in
the sense of "more of the same stuff that we know
from Tom", but then they mean "more of the same kind
of masterpieces that we know from Swordfishtrombones,
Raindogs and Franks Wild Years. I do not quite agree,
for I do think that some of the stuff on Real Gone
touches new ground with the percussion experimenting,
the beatboxing and scratching sounds; apart from this
the album is very "energetic" I would say. My
favourites are Hoist That Rag, How's It Gonna End,
Dead and Lovely (one critic wrote Dead and Lonely,
which is quite something different, have to send in a
letter to that magazine to have it corrected,
Trampled Rose, Green Grass, Clang Boom Steam, Make it
Rain and Day after Tomorrow. Quite a lot ;-). Let's
enjoy the shows guys, I'm seeing two, just like in
1999 in The Hague, perfect evenings.

Hoist That Rag!!
