sorry to intervene like this,but the mention of Brel
gets me going...he's the next best thing to TW,and -
excuse me if you already know this - Scott Walker made
an English-language LP of Brel covers in the 60's
(still available).A Belgian Brel-ophile told me the
translation from French to English is very good. In
fact, songs like Next,Amsterdam, If You Go Away etc
are without doubt up to the standard of TW.(and
there's not that many people you can say that about).
