i dont think anybody who's ever been told to listen to
tom waits becomes a real fan. (unless any of you have
different experiences) but i think it happens when you
just find his music accidentally.. i think its kind of
comes to you. i think being a lonely tom waits fan is
good in a way...its just kind of sad and tom waits-y
when you're along being sad listening to his music.
so i might stop telling people to listen to him...
"yeah its a great song, but imagine if someone with a
real good voice sang it. what if you sang it, imagine
that. he's a great songwriter, but not a singer"

sad. i will never sing as well as tom, but she wouldnt
