Distortion? I think this is the music that the man
makes ;-) I just read a review in the Dutch magazine
NRC, and the reviewer writes the following (I
translate now): Waits, apart from a single song here
and there, no longer tries to sing in any way in a
normal manner, he only sighs, screams, and screaks,
and preferably through a voice twister. The reviewer
also wrote that to him the sound resembles that of
man being dragged through a bathtub filled with
scorching hot tar and sulphur, while his torturers
scream in a fierce background choir: ka-boem, ka-
boem, ka-boem. I loved the review, and I love your
contribution to the forum as well. This is the music
that the man makes, I'm afraid. But I admit: I also
once or twice listened at my speakerboxes with extra
attention to hear whether they were starting to
disintegrate! ;-)
Tip: you can always sell your copies of Real Gone on
e-bay and buy the latest Carpenters cd (only joking)
