The big problem here is Ebay and Greed.
People will buy tickets for concerts they have no
interest in so they can sell them on ebay for a
profit. Its self perpetuating because in buying a
ticket you instantly create a marketplace as there is
one less ticket to go around. Therefore the price
goes up and up and up. I'll admit I've sold extra
tickets myself to concerts that I am attending and i
don't complain if i get more than I paid for, but I
like many others have spent hundreds of pounds on £30
face value tickets in the past so I feel I'm just
getting a little back from the marketplace. I
personally paid £1000 for four circle tickets to the
London show from a ticket agency becuase I didn't
want to risk anything going wrong with ebay and not
ending up with any tickets at all. As it turned out
they blackmailed me into letting them buy back 2 of
the tickets for £360. They knew I needed to sell on
2 of the tickets as friends had dropped out so they
said they would make me collect my tickets after 7pm
on the night of the concert from their offices in
central London if I didn't accept their offer of £360.
(making it near impossible for me to sell them on
without touting them outside the venue) My point is
where there's money to be made, the crooks move in.
1400 tickets may not have been on general sale but
you can guarantee there weren't given away free.
Somewhere along the line someone made a lot of money
for little effort and I agree it must be frustrating
to have missed the concert because the ticket you
could afford has ended up with someone who didn't
feel their stomach flip, or didn't understand it what
was going on, or didn't realise what a privilege it
was to hear Tom roar because this stuff does fight
wars and feed the hungry because it shows us what it
means to be human and once we understand how fragile
that is, just maybe we can care a little more for
eachother. And paying hundreds of pounds for a
ticket just to say you were there doesn't even come
close.

Phew! Coffee please.
