Read on - you seem to have got that quote from the TW
supplement link. The next extract there tells how
Johnny Cash recorded it in 1994 - a year after the
interview you quoted. Also, immediately after the
lyrics it says'written by Tom Wait (recorded by Johnny
Cash)
