Hey Marco,

I love Herman, and attended his funeral, were you
there by any chance?

Herman, born in the same city as me, carrying the
same forename as me (Hermanus), moved from Zwolle to
Groningen, from Groningen to Amsterdam. Me too. Loved
the way he spoke about Zwolle in the movie about him.
Bought and read all the books by Bart Chabot, good
reading material. Herman B, it even moves me (just a
tiny little bit) to read you mentioning his name. He
was OK, a nice guy. Do you know what I discovered
Marco (and I think I really discovered it, read it
nowhere else.) He took the song When I get Home from
Cave (Nick used another title Right now I'm a-
roaming, it is a bonus track from "The boatman's
call" promo. AND he used, either consciously or
subconsciously (or maybe even unconsciously ;-))
words by Waits: When I get home I'm gonna take off my
skin, when I get home, I am gonna dance in my bones.
Don't you find that striking? I did.) (I must add to
this that Alli? wrote that these words are older and
stem from some 1920's song, but still it struck me
that Brood used another singer's melody, and yet
another singer's words in When I get Home. Also
striking Marco that the last words of that song are
I'm gonna fly on my own. (He did, didn't he?; for all
others: Herman jumped off a building, the Hilton
hotel, in 2001). It is also the last song on his last
album, and if I am not mistaken it is even track
number 13, but I may be wrong on that.

So far for Brood, dear old Brood.

Harry
