Well where was I when I first heard a Tom Waits
song...
I don't remember. But I do remember hearing
swordfishtrombone and from that moment I knew here's
something special going on. I really didn't care much
about the early "piano"-songs (sorry folks)
I must admit I lost track awhile, but when "Bone
Machine" and later "Mule Variations" came out I was
hooked and even started to appreciate his earlier
work too. And when I heard Tom on Freedow Highway
with 2 great songs I knew here's a man who can follow
in the footsteps of Charlie Patton, Howlin Wolf and
the Captain (Don van Vliet) and there you have it.
What a quartet!!!
