The Chinese restaurant Nam Kee is quite famous for
its delicious authentic Chinese food. The place is
real Chinese, so NOT with the red lampoons (is that
English, lampoons?) and kitsch-like little porcelain
statues, but with bright TL light (aaghh!), local
Chinese guests (as well as tourists of course), and
food so good that you will want to eat your plate as
well. I think it is called Nam Kee, too lazy to look
it up, maybe Piggy can check the name as well, thanks
in advance Piggy, but recently a book was published
that is called The Oysters of Nam Kee, it was also
made into a movie, and I think it is about this small
restaurant. I also once ate in a larger Vietnamese
restaurant also on the Zeedijk, forgot the name of
that one as well, but you can't miss it if you walk
up and down the Zeedijk, delicious food, slightly
more expensive place than Nam Kee, but worth the
money. I am trying to think of other places you might
want to visit in Amsterdam, but don't know all of
your tastes. An old part of Amsterdam, nice for
taking a stroll and drinking coffee, would be the
Jordaan, where the real, authentic Amsterdam people
live. If you like art, there is of course the
Rijksmuseum (with Rembrandts Nightwatch and a lot
more old stuff), the Stedelijk Museum (with modern
art), the Van Gogh Museum, etc. Leidseplein and
Rembrandtplein are tourist squares, but picturesque,
in the day and nighttime, famous cafe there is
Schiller. The hotel Americain is famous too, the bar
is worth having a look, expensive place with Art-Deco
decorations. A tea would cost you about 2.5 Euro or
something, a beer about 5 I guess. It is quite
possible that Mr Waits will sleep there, another
possibility is Hotel The Grand, I am just quessing.
Maybe he will sleep at a friend's place, who knows.

Final tip: check your passports for validity. It
would be a pity if you had a valid ticket for Waits
but not a valid passport. You wouldn't be the first
one to forget checking.

P.S. Allibee, when do you think you would be in the
pub? (Without any obligation of course, I am just
curious. I think I may be there maybe before and/or
after 19th concert, and before the concert on the
21st.

More later
