OK, I will let you in on a secret. In Amsterdam there
is (small) concert hall called Paradiso. To me it is
the best place in the world to hear and see live
bands. The building is a church, converted into a
music hall. Good programming, good atmosphere. AND,
not unimportant, one can buy a drink during concerts,
and, there are often concerts where one can stand and
move (Eric you will like the place too, I will take
you there whenever you visit me in Holland), instead
of sit on chairs. Since some time, some of the
concerts are filmed. They can be watched as streaming
video on www.fabchannel.com. It helps if you have a
cable/adsl connection. It is a small concert hall,
but famous, also among musicians. The Stones played
there some years ago, Bowie played there, Iggy Pop,
they all will end up there sooner or later. John Cale
played there on 9 Dec 2004. If you watch his concert,
which lasted for 1 hour and 46 minutes, after 39
minutes and 23 seconds you will hear and see him say:
Thank you very much, this is a song by Leonard Cohen.
And he will play Hallelujah for you hold_on, and for
you Marco, and for you ...
If you listen to the whole concert, you will hear
some people whistle quite loudly on their fingers in
admiration. The most enthusiastic one of these
(whistling in an almost annoying way ;-), sorry for
that ;-)) is me.
