The February issue of Word magazine has a really good article on
TW by Mick Brown and some great photos by Anton Corbijn
(might only be a UK magazine but not sure). Recalls 30 years of
interviews with Tom and has some pretty funny banter, as you'd
expect. Personal favourites: Tom talking of meeting Herb Cohen,
his first manager outside The Troubadour: "He was exposing
himself. Actually, it was so cold that he was describing himself";
and Tom on the role of the artist: "Most of us expect artists to do
irresponsible things. We believe that if you're way down there,
you're going to bring something back up for us, and we won't
have to make the trip. Go to hell with gasoline drawers on and
bring me back some chicken chow-mein while you're at it."
What can I say... dye your hair yellow and raise your hem, the guy
really makes me smile.
