There is a Rose of Tralee Festival in Kerry (right down
south of Ireland) where all the "Roses" (ie lovely
girls like in Father Ted if anyone knows that
programme)compete in a kind of beauty pageant . All the
counties of Ireland and cities around the world pick a
Rose to send to the festival.

Knnd of a more twee, wholesome Miss World without the
swimsuits , and everybody has to sing a song or do a
dance or poem as well as looking lovely and acting as
if butter wouldn't melt.

Alli could tie this in in her visit to Dingle and Fungi
the Dolphin.


Now, knowing TW has visited Kerry, and AFAIK (could be
wrong) Kathleen Brennan has roots from that neck of the
woods I always thought that his "Rose of Tralee" was
Kathleen.

Additional trivia - Irish writer John B . Keane hails
from Tralee.

Additional useless trivia - one of my mates is married
into his family.

Additional totally useless trivia - my mate got a
1960's Morris Minor as a wedding present from his
father in law. This disproves the line that Christy
Moore sang "You can't wine and dine her, in an old
Morris Minor"
