Beetheart is an artist with a capital A who was
avant garde and completely original. Genius is a
word that spring to mind, there was no
compromise or conformism. Waits started out as a
very traditional singer songwriter who was
introduced to Beefheart's music by his WIFE, the
influence was immediately apparent in
Swordfishtrombones and subsequent work,
particularly in the vocals, off-kilter rhythms and
angular guitars.
