I saw a performance by the Thalia Theater, a German
Theater Company, performing in Amsterdam somewhere
around 1999? not so far from the Carre, in the
Muziektheater. I was impressed, good story, and nice
to hear the music being performed live. Some two
years ago, The Black Rider was going to be performed
by a Dutch theatre group, but Tom forbid live
performance of the music then, I read because he was
dissatisfied with an earlier performance in Germany.
The theater group had rehearsed for about two years,
but had to look for another play to perform. I missed
the London performance with Marianne Faitful in May-
June of this year, for financial reasons ;-), and
regret it. I should have gone.

Hope to see it performed again one day. Read that
people (Mary?) who saw it in London, was so impressed
that she went for a second time.

Bye for now, the story is nice because it of the
ancient roots, and because of the generally
recognizable idea of selling your soul to the devil,
wanting something very badly and giving up your soul
for it. In the story the hunter is excused because
his motivation was love, but still, he blew his
chances, which makes him a true tragic figure, a
tragic lover, wanting the most beautiful thing in the
world (his beloved) and being left behind with empty
hands.

Ah, how sad, and how recognisable to many...
