It is certainly amusing.

Let's have more stories of the misappreciation that
we sometimes encounter.

One critic in a Dutch quality paper wrote something
like that on Real Gone Tom sounded as if he was drawn
by the balls through a bathtub ful of salpeter, (or
something like that, I have to look it up). The guy
had bought the previous 19 cds he wrote (I think I
miscalculated, but anyhow), he had listened in a
record shop, but as he missed the "beautiful, sad
songs" of the earlier work, he decided not to buy
Real Gone. He also wrote that to him it seemed that
Tom was making Art nowadays. (As if that is a bad
thing to do.) I found it so sad for this critic that
he had to miss this beautiful music that I wrote back
a reaction to the newspaper (they didn't publish it
but I hope they passed it on to the critic).
Apparently he had not listed to Sins of the Father,
How's it Gonna End, Dead and Lovely (how much more
beautiful and sad would you like to have your songs I
wonder), Trampled Rose, Green Grass, Day after
Tomorrow. And a friend of mine correctly wrote to me
that he wondered how somebody can write an article in
a newspaper about a cd if he has only heard the
record once. He went on to tell me that a
journalist/interviewer of the Belgian magazine Humo
once apologised to musician Té Lau that he had only
listened to his record 30 times. How about that for
doing your homework? ;-)

OK, bye for now,
Harry
