Did you hear the Brendan Behan story about the time
Guiness asked him to come up with a slogan for them?
They thought it would be a good idea to ask Ireland's
greatest living writer to do them an advertising
slogan, and he agreed, but said they'd have to send
round a couple of crates of the black stuff to help the
muse along. He told them to call round in a day or two.
Anyway, yer man from the brewery calls on Behan, and
the room is littered with screwed up pieces of paper
and empty stout bottles.
"Have you come up with anything, yet? " he asked the
writer.
Our Brendan , of course , was a bit the worse for wear
and handed the man from Guinness a crumpled sheet.
"Of course" says he " here you go"
The brewery man read the slogan -
"Guinness makes you drunk"
