I think, though ginsoaked may correct me, that folks have been
known to make juniperberry gin in their bathtubs. I think too,
though this is a very hazy memory from childhood, that in the
musical Annie, Miss Hannigan - the drunken maid in charge of the
orphanage - had a bathtub full of gin. It's a hard nut life. I read
the book of that film as a kid too - I know, oh dear - so the
bathtub thing might've been from that, but it's stretching my
memory. Think I went to see Annie at the flicks for my 8 or 9th
birthday! Also, and this is by the by, I got two goldfish as a
birthday present for that birthday (was desperate for a pet,
preferably furry, but hey) and one was a type called a Golden
Orph; hence the fish names: Orph an' Annie. Yep, sad but true.
Later addition to the fishtank: Daddy Warbucks. (Taxi for miss_e?
I'll get my coat...) (p.s. I also used to read to my fish, from the
Annie book. Well, the reputation damage was done already...)
:-)
