I really love The Black Rider as well, though a couple
of friends who are also big fans just didn't like it.
I'm really into the whole carnivalesque thing, so it
works for me. I especially like the title track and
Russian Dance, also Shoot the Moon. It's a very dark
album, but it has humour too. I know it's a musical in
its own right, but I think a lot of it would be really
suited to a theatrical production of Mikhael
Bulgakov's novel The Master and Margarita. Very
magical and otherworldy. I would love to know if Tom
has read this book - it goes hand in hand with his
music.
And I think Real Gone could well be up there with
the best. It'll take time, time, time, though, to know
for sure. Roll on Berlin...
